Hairplay

Ok, so I've got this...

To wear above my halter-style, ruffle-necked gown (more than that, I cannot yet reveal...).

But what to do with my hair?

We'll be on a (potentially windy) beach, and indoors latter in the evening. I want to look elegant, sophisticated, and timeless, as befitting the occasion.

And, at the same time, I want the whole day (weekend!) to be organic, fun, real. Contradictory? Maybe not. The inimitable Kate Winslet often channels the vibe I aspire to. I like the wabi-sabi of hair that is not completely perfect. To wit...

Which do you like best with my fascinator and veil?

First or last all the way. The ones that look too bun-ny don't feel as organic. The first and last feel very "oh why look, I rolled out of bed with this fabulous updo!" which is the look I had gone for too. :)

The winds of a Northern California beach are fairly formidable. You could always take it back into a tight chignon and let the wind have its way. Then when you are finished getting married, have someone nearby with some hair product to rub stuff through the escaped strands and wind them around fingers so they look purposeful. But that's a pretty up to chance scenario:). Depends how you feel about the patterns of the universe vs. directed, intent beauty. Or some such thing.

oh, LPC, spoken like you knew... "patterns of the universe" = my M.O.

my vote is on #1 and #3 (although maybe a little less bird nest-y if you go with #3). i'm with you on the slightly imperfect hair...it'll look like you didn't try too hard (but tried just hard enough) to look as bombshell as you do. :D

If you are going to be outdoors with the possibility of wind, then you need a 'do that is pretty windproof. like #3--or #5

I love the last option. I did a practice hair style with the bun at the nape of my neck and it drove my crazy- so I opted for a high bun which worked out and held up wonderfully!!!!

ooh -- your fascinator-thingy looks so much like mine! I went with half up/half down curly hair, but the wind & my hair's contrariness flattened it well before dinner. I adore the ornate up-dos ... but feel obliged to mention that I still like the photos after my hairstyle met gravity.
